How to Fix Memory.dll Not Found or Missing Errors

Memory.dll is an important DLL file of any Windows system. Without it your computer won’t function properly and you won’t be able to use it normally. In this tutorial we will show you how to fix “memory.dll not found” or “memory.dll is missing” errors.

Why Am I Getting Memory.dll Not Found Errors?

Typically, you will start getting memory.dll errors when your memory.dll file becomes corrupted or is missing altogether. When that happens, you will start getting error messages when trying to run all sorts of applications. These error messages can be different, but most of the time they’ll say:

Memory.dll Not Found

or

The application failed to start because memory.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem.

How to Fix Memory.dll Not Found or Missing Errors

The first thing you should do is determine which application is making this error happen. That’s usually easy to do because the memory.dll not found error will appear immediately when you try to run the faulty software. In addition to that, the error message you will get will usually mention the application in question. Sometimes it won’t give you the name directly, but you should still be able to find out what it is because it will be mentioned as .exe (for example, skype.exe for Skype). Once you know which program is causing the problems, you’ll be able to start fixing the error.

Step 1: Run a Scan for Malware

The first thing you should do to fix memory.dll error is scan your PC for viruses and malware. Malicious programs often remove essential files like memory.dll to make it easier for themselves to modify your system. Always use reputable anti-malware programs when running a scan and make sure you have the latest malware definitions by updating the software right before you run the scan.

Step 2: Reinstall the program

If the malware scan comes clear, then you should try reinstalling the program that’s causing the problem. Reinstalling the software will replace the missing or corrupted DLL file with a new one, which will fix the error. To do that, do the following:

  1. Click on Start and go to Control Panel
  2. Go to Programs and click on the Uninstall a program link
  3. Find the program that’s causing the error, highlight it and click on uninstall
  4. Wait for the uninstall to finish and reboot your computer
  5. Now go to the program’s website and download the installation package. Do not use your previously downloaded installer because it may be corrupted.
  6. Once downloaded, follow the prompts to install the program as you normally do.

Step 3: Repair the Windows Registry

And last but not least, make sure that your Registry doesn’t contain any outdated, empty or corrupted entries. These entries can cause all sorts of Windows errors, including the memory.dll not found error. Running registry repair with reputable software will identify bad entries and remove them, thus allowing your computer to function error-free and efficiently.
