Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

pdf reader

Adobe Reader is a program that nearly every user has. After all, everybody needs to be able to open PDF documents. Most of the time, the program works great (even if it is a bit slow). But sometimes Adobe Reader starts displaying some things incorrectly – sometime images are not displayed at all, or the text looks different, or the text gets pixelized, or even some local characters don’t get displayed. Here are some tips that should help you fix the problem.

Update Adobe Reader

The first thing you should do when you start getting Adobe Reader displaying problems is to update it to the latest version. If the displaying problem is caused by a bug, chances are that an update addresses the issue and includes a fix. If updating Adobe Reader doesn’t work for some reason, uninstall the program and install it again from Adobe website. (more…)

How to Remove the Iexplorer.exe Virus

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

When all of a sudden your computer becomes slow and starts behaving in a strange way, the first thing you do is check the Windows Task Manager. You press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC on your keyboard and then go to the processes tab to review running processes. But everything seems to be in order – svchost.exe, explorer.exe, iexplorer.exe… You may not realize, but one of them is a virus. That’s iexplorer.exe. This file is not Internet Explorer, which runs the process iexplore.exe. So, if you see iexplorer.exe running on your system, you should stop it immediately and do everything you can to remove the virus from your computer. Here is how you can do it.

The first thing you should do before you start the virus removal process is back up your important files. Don’t back up the whole system because you will back up the virus as well. When the backup is complete, update your antivirus software and run a full scan. Delete everything your antivirus finds and reboot your computer. Check the Task Manager to see if iexplorer.exe is gone. If it is, then your antivirus did the job.

However, sometimes antivirus software doesn’t detect the iexplorer.exe file. If that’s the case, you’ll need to remove the virus yourself. Here is how:

1. Open the Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Esc), then click File – New Task (Run)
2. Type regedit in the Run box and press Enter
3. Browse to this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution.options

4. If you see explorer.exe and iexplorer.exe under this key, delete them because they should not be there and contain a virus
5. Close Registry Editor and restart your computer

This should remove the iexplorer.exe virus from your system. But if you want to make sure that your computer is absolutely virus-free, scan it with a good quality registry cleaner. It should remove all traces of malware from your system.
